Hello NLPS Secondary School Families! 

NLPS is dedicated to supporting students and families during this unprecedented time. The resources below will help support your child during the Extended School Closure. We have designed Distance Learning to be flexible for families, while giving our teachers and students a way to reconnect. WhalersUnited!

Summer School

Summer School will be offered via a virtual platform.  Summer School will begin on July 13 and conclude on August 14.  Teachers will be available to assist students on the virtual platform from 9AM-12PM daily during summer school.

The program is offered to students that have lost credit during the first semester and/or students that earned an incomplete during the second semester.

Subjects offered are the following:  Math, Science, English, Social Studies

School counselors will be contacting eligible students within the next few weeks and families are encouraged to contact their child’s school counselor if they have any questions.

Parents of students who have been referred for summer school will also be given information about their child’s program by the end of June. Please contact Mr. Tommy Thompson at should you have any questions.

Week of June 15th - June 19th

  • Please review the building directors' communication regarding End of Year requirements.
  • Students continue to work on their coursework in Edgenuity and/or Google Classroom. Teachers are providing support through online Zoom meetings to help students with their coursework.
  • Students must budget, whenever possible, a minimum of 5 hours work per week in order to stay on target.

  • Students must set a goal for course completion of 10 to 15% progress per week, whenever possible.
  • Students can contact their teachers through email and Google classroom if they have questions about their coursework.
  • Students should make every possible attempt to attend live Zoom meetings, particularly if they are struggling with the work in Edgenuity.
  • Students should review Google classroom for additional teacher supports and resources.
  • Teachers will continue to provide feedback to students on their work.

  • Secondary ELA teachers and school counselors will be sharing summer reading information starting Friday, June 12th. The NLPS Secondary Summer Reading Web page will go live June 19th.  This web page will contain suggested summer reading lists, resources for accessing free reading materials, and summer reading assignments.
