We look forward to offering parents and community members robust learning opportunities to help foster strong home to school connections and engage all in our learning community! Throughout this spring, there will be a variety of courses to choose from which we hope all attendees will find helpful as parents, caregivers and community members continue to be New London Public Schools’ partners in supporting student success! Below are the course offerings for our first session to be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 6 – 8 pm at the Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School.

Technology Fluency and PowerSchool!

  • Learn how to use technology to access your child's PowerSchool account and stay informed about their grades and attendance! Learn how to navigate the district's website and other tools to stay informed!

NLPS Parent & District Connection!

  • Become educated on district policies. Learn about attendance goals, career paths and available outside services! Learn about connections in the community to become more knowledgeable about your child's education!

Attendance Matters!

  • Learn about the impact of chronic absences, how to track your child's absences, how you can help improve your child's attendance, and information about community resources!

What Is Asthma?

  • Learn what the signs and symptoms are of Asthma, how to manage Asthma, and receive more information regarding resources for you and your child!


Supporting Your Early Readers!

  • Discussions on how to support early readers at home. Activities will be shared to provide support for early literacy!


Bridging The Communication Gap Between Parents, Students and Educators !

  • Learn how to effectively utilize digital communication platforms including Remind and Google Classroom!

 

What Is The Big Picture For Your Child’s life?

  • What does it take to raise a child successfully? What is most important? What is a priority? Come for an open discussion amongst parents and educators about the "big picture"!


Learning Multiplication Through Different Strategies (Based On Common Core Standards)!

  • Learn some of the many strategies to solve multiplication word problems for grades 3-5! are based Common Core Standards!


Supporting Your Early Readers

  • Learn how to engage your early reader and develop literacy at home.
