New Classrooms Innovation Partners announced it is partnering with 28 schools in the 2015-16 school year to implement Teach to One: Math, an  innovative personalized learning school model for middle grade mathematics.

In the 2014-15 school year, more than 6,500 students in 9 school districts received mathematics education via the Teach to One: Math school model. This year, that number will rise to more than 10,000 students in 28 district and charters schools across 7 states. The non-profit organization’s growth includes partnerships with schools in Oakland, California; Denver, Colorado; New London, Connecticut; and Elizabeth, New Jersey, where the school district and New Classrooms won a $3M federal grant to spread the model. (The full list of 2015-16 partners can be found below.)

“New London’s vision is to personalize learning for every student," Dr. Manuel Rivera, Superintendent of New London Public Schools in New London, Connecticut. "Teach to One: Math provides teachers a dynamic way to engage students and to operationalize our commitment to personalized learning.”

“In nearly every sector besides education, we commit time and resources to R&D to search for innovative, practical solutions to the challenges we face,” said Joel Rose, CEO and Co-founder of New Classrooms. “These 28 pioneering schools are demonstrating what is possible when we question basic assumptions about what teaching and learning looks like.”

The Teach to One: Math model leverages the talents of teachers and the power of data and technology to personalize what, when, where, and how each student learns. Teach to One: Math enables teachers to assess students’ understanding daily in order identify what lesson students should learn next, and what instructional approach would best help them learn it.

In the 2013-14 school year, independent analysis by Professor Doug Ready of Teachers College, Columbia University found that, on average, students in Teach to One made math gains at 1.5 times the national average — equivalent to an additional half year of learning.

New Classrooms works closely with partnership schools to customize the Teach to One: Math model to the unique culture and needs of each school. Once a partnership site is identified, New Classrooms works with local facilities and technology experts to ensure the school site has the necessary infrastructure to support the model, which typically includes a large, open classroom design to allow for multiple student groups based on skill levels and learning styles. New Classrooms provide both on- and off-site logistical support and professional development throughout the school year.

About New Classrooms Innovation Partners
New Classrooms is a non-profit education organization that designs and implements personalized school models that reimagine the use of time, talent, technology, and physical space in order to provide a personalized learning experience for every student every day. New Classrooms' first-of-its-kind technology draws from tens of thousands of high quality lessons to create a customized and dynamic curriculum for each student each day. Our flagship instructional model, Teach to One: Math, integrates teacher-led, collaborative, and independent instruction in ways that enable students to not just learn skills but apply them in real world contexts. Teach to One: Math grew out of a New York City pilot program called School of One, which TIME Magazine named one of the "best inventions of 2009".
